Human Resources and Office Administration Trainee

The Human Resources and Office Administration Trainee will provide administrative support for the day to day activities of the Human Resources team and wider business as needed. Reporting to the Human Resources Consultant, the key responsibilities of this role will be to maintain accurate and complete employee records, effective and efficient recruitment efforts and delivering onboarding and offboarding activities while ensuring excellent employee experience. Office administrative duties will vary throughout the year to meet business needs.

The successful candidate will have some experience in administration and an interest in pursuing Human Resources. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills along with a positive attitude will be essential in this role.

Building Services Assistant
  • Melbourne

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Building Services team. As an integral member of the team and reporting to the Ballet Centre Manager, the Building Services Assistant will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and operations of the Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre (PPABC).  This position will manage all building maintenance requests and assist in overall facility management including security, essential services, functions and logistics coordination. Due to the daily demands of this role, regular hours will be afternoon/evenings with some flexibility in hours.

The preferred candidate will have maintenance experience and ability to repair minor jobs. This individual must have an understanding of OH&S, including manual handling and ladder regulations. The ability to problem solve and prioritize competing priorities will be essential in this role. An electrical certificate and knowledge of security and building management systems is preferred.

Work experience


The Australian Ballet offers five work experience placements in administration to Year 10 school students each year. Students get the opportunity to assist a range of departments at the head office in Melbourne, including company management, customer services, wardrobe, and marketing, as well as observing dancers in rehearsals and class. Due to the popularity of the program, places fill very quickly. The 2019 program is fully booked. Bookings for the 2020 work experience program will open in March 2019.

Wardrobe - Production

The Australian Ballet’s wardrobe department caters for secondary and tertiary work-experience placements. There are five one-week placements available per year for Year 10 students. Students should apply during the third term of the year prior to their requested placement. You need to be able to use a domestic sewing machine and be proficient in hand-sewing. Final-year students are given preference, but placements for other year levels can also be arranged, depending on availability. Tertiary students should apply to The Australian Ballet, outlining their course requirements, relevant experience, and why they wish to undertake a placement at The Australian Ballet.
