External Relations Coordinator

The External Relations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the External Relations team to deliver partner contractual benefits. As part of the External Relations team, this role will also assist with sponsor events and obligations. We're looking for a professional, highly organised, proactive problem solver who is a team player. This is a Sydney based role and requires some but limited travel.

Special Events Coordinator

The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of a series of events to be held with The Australian Ballet. This role will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver events for The Australian Ballet’s Patrons and VIPs.

This is a fixed term, full time 12 month contract and is based in our Melbourne office.This role requires some interstate travel and will be required to work evenings and weekends.

Deputy Company Manager - Maternity Leave Cover

The role of the Deputy Company Manager is to assist in the forward planning and daily administration of The Australian Ballet and associated companies including, The Regional Tour, Storytime Ballet and Ballet Under the Stars. This involves the coordination of domestic travel and accommodation arrangements for the dancers and touring staff (approximately 120 people); liaising with theatre personnel and the public in all performance venues; artist liaison; personnel management; child employment; and general administration for allocated tours.

It is a touring position, involving approximately six months of travel throughout the year divided across our allocated Mainstage tours, The Regional Tour as well as Storytime Ballet. The position has the support of the Assistant Company Manager.

Costume Coordinator

The Costume Coordinator is part of a dedicated and talented team of cutters and costumiers who make up the Costume Workshop. The Costume Coordinator is responsible for working with the costume designer in realizing the costumes and coordinating the costume production process.

This is a non-touring position, although interstate travel may be required.

Music Operations Manager

Reporting to the Music Director and Chief Conductor, the Music Operations Manager works with the Music Team to ensure the delivery of the varied music needs of The Australian Ballet at the highest possible standards. The position is responsible for coordinating the music production and operational requirements of the Company.

Company Pianist

We are seeking an experienced ballet pianist to join the Music Team. Applicants must be expert pianists, have considerable experience in playing for professional ballet classes and rehearsals, and a broad knowledge of the classical ballet repertoire. Pianists of The Australian Ballet can be asked to perform orchestral piano and keyboards in the Company’s seasons. Additionally, they may be invited to perform as soloists. This role requires expensive touring without Australia.

First Nations Education Cadets

We are on the look out for two First Nation Education Cadets that are able to join us for a 24 weeks February to July 2022. This is best suited to graduates who are keen to have a touring experience.

All costs for touring are covered, you will be well supported, given clear goals and mentored within the Education and Outreach team with access to practical support through our medical team.

These roles are for artists that are considering making a career, working in the community as a teaching artist, and the focus is very much on pedagogy, working in a diverse environment and practicing choreographic craft within community.

Applicants are not required to have advanced ballet technique but a strong dance training is advantageous as well as bringing a confident perspective to our work in embedding more inclusive Indigenous world views into our pedagogies.
