Work experience

The Australian Ballet offers five work experience placements in administration to Year 10 school students each year. Students get the opportunity to assist a range of departments at the head office in Melbourne, including company management, customer services, wardrobe, and marketing, as well as observing dancers in rehearsals and class. Due to the popularity of the program, places for our 2018 program are completed.

Wardrobe - Production

The Australian Ballet’s wardrobe department caters for secondary and tertiary work-experience placements. There are five one-week placements available per year for Year 10 students. Students should apply during the third term of the year prior to their requested placement. You need to be able to use a domestic sewing machine and be proficient in hand-sewing. Final-year students are given preference, but placements for other year levels can also be arranged, depending on availability. Tertiary students should apply to The Australian Ballet, outlining their course requirements, relevant experience, and why they wish to undertake a placement at The Australian Ballet.
