Audition - Dancer

Various Positions

The Australian Ballet is always looking for the best talent the world has to offer. We welcome your expression of interest for the below Dancer opportunities:

Application Process

To apply, please provide:

  • a CV including headshot
  • a listing of your dance training, any performing experience, and your height
  • a short video

Photos and videos do not need to be professionally shot, but please submit footage that you feel shows you at your best – whether that’s in the studio or in performance.

To submit the video with the application, we recommend uploading this to YouTube, marking the video as unlisted, and providing this link during the application. An unlisted YouTube video means that the video can only be seen by the people you share the link with. This allows us to watch what you provide and for you to upload and edit as needed.

How to upload an “unlisted” video to YouTube

  1. Once signed in to YouTube with the account you wish to use.
  2. Change drop down to “unlisted”.
  3. Upload the video file from your computer.
  4. Fill out basic info (title, description etc.)
  5. Click advanced settings.
  6. Click done and wait for the video to be uploaded.


Auditions

The Australian Ballet holds auditions only when we have Dancer contracts available. Should you submit your information for consideration, we will hold it on file and make contact only with dancers the company wishes to audition.

Company Pianist

Melbourne

We are seeking an experienced ballet pianist to join the Music Team. Applicants must be expert pianists, have considerable experience in playing for professional ballet classes and rehearsals, and a broad knowledge of the classical ballet repertoire. Pianists of The Australian Ballet can be asked to perform orchestral piano and keyboards in the Company’s seasons. Additionally, they may be invited to perform as soloists.

Content Specialist

Melbourne

The Content Specialist is responsible for the coordination and production of creative and compelling written, digital, and photographic content that increases awareness and brand visibility, drives demand generation, and enhances audience engagement while conveying the voice of The Australian Ballet. The brand custodian of the voice of The Australian Ballet including tone and grammar across all communication channels.

The Content Specialist role sits within the Digital team, which is within the broader Sales and Marketing department. The role produces world-class content which exists in both online and offline environments and is key to preserving the integrity, tone, and voice of the brand, and to creating strong appeal for both loyal audiences and inquiring new audiences alike.

Customer Experience Assistants

Melbourne

  • Several Casual Positions
  • Commencing 22 August 2022 until Early December 2022

Deputy Company Manager

Melbourne

The role of the Deputy Company Manager is to assist in the forward planning and daily administration of The Australian Ballet and associated companies including The Regional Tour, Storytime Ballet and Ballet Under the Stars.

It is a touring position, involving approximately six months of travel throughout the year divided across allocated Mainstage tours, The Regional Tour as well as Storytime Ballet. The position is led by the Company Manager and works collaboratively with all members of the Company Management team.

Footwear Coordinator

Melbourne

The Costume Coordinator - Footwear will be primarily responsible for managing orders, maintenance, and distribution of all dancers’ shoes. This includes the main company, Education Team and Regional touring.

This role is part of a team that manages costume requirements for all activities in the company and therefore requires strong organisational, record keeping and communication skills. Based in Melbourne, this role may require limited travel.

Marketing Executive

Melbourne

Are you highly organised, passionate and seeking your next marketing opportunity? We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Marketing Executive to join The Australian Ballet team working on mainstage and campaign initiatives. The candidate will have excellent stakeholder and people management skills with a ‘can do’ attitude! This is a hybrid role.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager you will assist with the implementation of end to end marketing campaigns, venue marketing, partnership initiatives and stakeholder management to achieve sales targets. This is a full-service, 360 campaign role across digital, print, outdoor and The Australian Ballet’s marketing channels. You will also assist other departments within the company to deliver on their marketing needs.

Music Operations Manager

Melbourne

Under the direction of the Music Director and Chief Conductor, the Music Operations Manager works with the Music Team to ensure the delivery of the varied music needs of The Australian Ballet at the highest possible standards.

The position is central to the planning and coordination of the music-operational requirements of the Company.

The position liaises closely with TAB’s Music Director, other Music Staff, TAB’s Artistic and Production teams, and a variety of other internal and external stakeholders. The Music Operations Manager co-ordinates the information flow to and from the Company’s regular partner orchestras and, in matters musical, the venues in which we perform.

The position is Melbourne based and will require some travel within Australia to assist with the set-ups and rehearsals for the Company’s interstate seasons. Hours of work are varied to accommodate the performance schedule of the Company and will include work on weekends and in the evenings.

The Production Centre Operations Assistant is responsible for assisting the Production Centre Manager with the day-to-day running of the Production Centre facility at Altona. Main responsibilities of the role includes warehouse cleaning, general maintenance of the warehouse and scheduled deliveries to/from the Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre, Southbank.
