The company will be performing Rudolf Nureyev’s production of Don Quixote based on the 1973 cinematic masterpiece by Nureyev and Sir Robert Helpmann. Take a pirouette down memory lane as we revisit some of our favourite moments of Japan since our first tour to the ‘land of the rising sun’ in 1968.

The company may only be a few years old, but we are already sharing our Australian spirit and warmth with Japanese audiences in 1968 during our first tour across Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. The company performs Raymonda, SwanLake Act II, The Display and Elektra.

It’s over 20 years before we have the opportunity to return to Japan, and the company ensures the 1987 tour is one to remember. We perform across Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Hiroshima and Osaka, with a repertoire including Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Les Sylphides, Forgotten Land, Divertissements and Les Sylphides.

In the early nineties, The Australian Ballet showed off its extensive repertoire in Nagoya, Tokyo, Osaka and Yokohama with performances of Giselle, Symphony in C, Return to the Strange Land, The Sleeping Beauty and a Gala Performance of favourite pieces.
