Serena was born on Sydney's north shore, but lived in Switzerland between the ages of three and ten. She trained at the Manly Dance Arts Centre, Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and The Australian Ballet School, and joined The Australian Ballet in 2018.

Serena hopes to one day sail on the 117-year-old tall-ship Alma Doepel, built by her great-great-grandfather and currently being restored in the Docklands of Melbourne.
