Joseph grew up in Wollongong; he trained at the Joanne Grace School of Dance and at The Australian Ballet School. In 2017 he danced Hilarion on The Australian Ballet's regional tour of Giselle. He joined the company in 2018.

Joesph was inspired to take up dance through watching his sister's classes: "it looked like fun".
