James Barton

Born on the Wirral, England, James Barton trained at Elmhurst Ballet School and graduated into Birmingham Royal Ballet. Throughout his career, Barton has performed coveted soloist and principal roles and was an original London cast member of Christopher Wheeldon’s An American in Paris. After retiring from the stage, Barton has worked as a rehearsal director and repetiteur for Scottish Ballet and Queensland Ballet, staging works by Sir Kenneth MacMillan, David Dawson, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Liam Scarlett, Ben Stevenson, Christopher Hampson and Cayetano Soto. Additionally, he has been a guest teacher for The Royal Ballet School, Scottish Ballet and the British Ballet Organisation.
