Evie was born in Cairns, in Far North Queensland, and is of Aboriginal descent. She showed an interest in movement and music from a young age, and began dance and performing-arts classes at the age of four. In 2010 she moved to Melbourne to join The Australian Ballet School. During her time at the School she toured with The Dancers Company in 2014 and 2015 and was selected to participate in a student-exchange program, which took her to Canada in 2015. Late in the same year she joined The Australian Ballet and was cast in the company's inaugural Storytime Ballet: The Sleeping Beauty season. Evie was promoted to coryphée in 2023.

Evie’s younger brother was born with a rare and profound disability. “Although it’s challenging at times, he is one of my greatest inspirations." Evie enjoys playing the ukulele and exploring Melbourne’s varied cafés.
