Nathaniel Griffiths

Nathaniel Griffiths is an Australian-born conductor, enjoying a flourishing freelance career in Australasia. A graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffiths studied conducting with Johannes Fritzsch.
Passionate about opera, Griffiths has assisted and covered numerous opera productions at the Queensland Conservatorium. In 2022, Griffiths made his opera debut with the Queensland Conservatorium Opera Orchestra’s performance of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene.
Griffiths was a participant in the 2023/24 iteration of the Australian Conducting Academy, affording him the opportunity to work with Australia’s leading symphony orchestras and their titled conductors.
In the 2024 season, Griffiths debuted with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Ballet. Following the success of his assistantship as the 2023 New Zealand Assistant-Conductor-in-Residence, Griffiths made several appearances for the Auckland Philharmonia. Additionally, he premiered the full orchestration of Lucy Mulgan’s Red! during the Auckland Philharmonia 2024 Summer School.
In 2025 Nathaniel returning to both the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and Queensland Ballet. Nathaniel joins the Australian Ballet as the 2025 Robert and Elizabeth Albert Conducting Fellow.
