Kylie Foster began her musical studies in Brisbane before completing a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2005. While at the Conservatorium, Foster began to establish herself as a freelance musician, working and touring across Australia and overseas with many local and international artists in all musical styles, including classical, jazz, Latin and contemporary.

While studying, Foster was introduced to the art of dance accompaniment and joined the staff of the Queensland Dance School of Excellence in 2003, also becoming an examination pianist for the Royal Academy of Dance in 2006. In 2013, Foster took up the position of Company Pianist with Queensland Ballet and was promoted to Principal Pianist in 2016.

Foster joined the music staff at The Australian Ballet in 2019. During this time, she has performed as a soloist with the company in works including Artifact Suite, Concerto, Schubert Memory (Kunstkamer), Little Atlas and Capriccio (Bodytorque Digital). Foster’s playing has also featured in Clay, Logos, Aurum and After the Rain.
