Mason Lovegrove was born in Sydney and grew up in Bowral, NSW, and Melbourne, Victoria. He began dancing at four to encourage physical movement after medical complications in his early years. He trained at the Highlands School of Performing Arts with Annette Dirickx before joining The Australian Ballet School, where he toured with The Dancers Company in 2014 and 2015 and took part in a student exchange with Canada’s National Ballet School. He joined The Australian Ballet in 2016 and was promoted to coryphée in 2019. Mason is inspired by Jiří Kylián and John Neumeier’s “incredibly creative minds”, as well as by Gene Kelly, Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye.
