Sounds of the Screen: Movie Music across Victorian Landscapes
In film, music creates the emotional landscape of people and place.
In this special programming collaboration for the Melbourne International Film Festival’s 70th edition, MIFF and Orchestra Victoria focus on the film scores that have captured the Victorian landscape and those that have transformed it into imagined pasts and futures.
‘Sounds of the Screen: Movie Music across Victorian Landscapes’ reflects on the rich history of Victorian filmmaking in two acts, conducted by acclaimed soundtrack conductor, Brett Kelly. The first act will focus on place and feature music from Picnic at Hanging Rock, Noise and Mad Max. The second act will feature the music of Oscar-nominated, Ballarat-born David Hirschfelder and include scores from The Railway Man and The Dressmaker.
