Jade Wood is on the rise. After a slew of stellar roles - including Alice in Christopher Wheeldon's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland© - Jade was promoted to senior artist in 2017. This year, she's danced Giselle (a long-held ambition) and debuted as Cinderella in Alexei Ratmansky's Cinderella. The opening night of this ballet in Sydney was an enchanted evening for Jade - not only did she win the prestigious Telstra Ballet Dancer Award, she also scooped the People's Choice Award. It's a rare feat pulled off by the starriest of dancers (including Amber Scott in 2004 and Chengwu Guo in 2011 - both are now principal artists).
We were there to capture Jade's surprise and delight on the night. We wish all the best to this exceptional dancer.
