Dance as a career: your questions answered

03 October 2011 | By admin

Before we held our Dance as a Career forum in Melbourne, we invited you to ask us your questions on this blog, Facebook and Twitter. We knew that not everyone could attend the forum, and we wanted you aspiring dancers, teachers and parents out there to have your questions heard.

We got a great variety, and our panel was able to address almost all of them. Tune in to this recording of the forum to hear Artistic Director David McAllister, Ballet Mistress Fiona Tonkin, and dancers Jade Wood and Jarryd Madden talk about how to finish your schooling while keeping up your dance training; how to cope with homesickness; diet; the height and age parameters for dancers aspiring to a professional career; the importance of goals and dreams; day-to-day life in The Australian Ballet; what it’s like after you finish your dance career … and more.

The Dance as a Career forum will be held in Sydney on 19 November. If you can’t make it, listen to the recording of the Melbourne forum – and watch out for upcoming blog posts on how to apply and prepare for auditions.
