Meet Stuart

Stuart began piano lessons aged six. He studied trombone at Perth Modern School and entered the University of Western Australia in 1972. After completing a Diploma of Teaching, he taught keyboard studies and music history. He was also engaged as a profes­sional pianist and double bass player for various opera, ballet and musical comedy companies. In 1980 Stuart continued his piano studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 1981. He joined The Australian Ballet School as pianist in 1982 and The Australian Ballet in 1985. Since then he has frequently appeared as soloist with the company and performed on several of its international tours. Stuart’s solo performances include Other Dances, Mercurial Manoeuvres, In The Night, The Four Temperaments, Continuum©, Grand Tarantella, The Concert, The Silver Rose, Gala Performance, Concerto, Beyond 12 and Symphonic Variations.
