Justin Beere was born in Mornington, Victoria, and grew up on the Gold Coast. When he was eleven, he saw an orchestra performing on the ABC: “I was completely captivated and knew I had to be part of something like that.” He began playing in the school band and started specialist clarinet lessons at the age of 15. He later studied with Floyd Williams, Paul Dean, Stephen Kenyon and David Thomas.
Justin has worked with the Melbourne, Tasmanian and New Zealand Symphony Orchestras, among others. He worked regularly with Orchestra Victoria as a casual before accepting a permanent position in 2017.
Justin Beere’s Associate Principal Clarinet position is generously supported by Susan and Leith Campbell.

“I draw inspiration mostly from singers, especially Jessye Norman, Barbara Hannigan, Barbara Bonney and Ian Bostridge. Their ability to embody the character of the music they are singing is seemingly effortless and their consideration of tone and phrasing is consistently astounding.”
